Direct photons in hydrodynamic modeling of relativistic nuclear collisions

چکیده

We review direct photons in the phenomenology of nuclear collisions at relativistic energies. Direct carry information about space–time evolution because QCD medium is transparent against colorless particles. After a status summary theoretical and experimental studies, transverse momentum spectra azimuthal anisotropies are studied context hydrodynamic modeling with emphasis on pre-equilibrium photons. It implied that can be as important thermal prompt for comprehensive understanding photon production.

Direct Photons from Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions

Direct photons have been proposed as a promising signature for the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) formation in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Recently WA98 presented the first data on direct photons in Pb+Pb-collisions at SPS. At the same time RHIC started with its experimental program. The discovery of the QGP in these experiments relies on a comparison of data with theoretical predictions for Q...

Elliptic flow of thermal photons in relativistic nuclear collisions.

We predict the transverse momentum (p(T)) dependence of elliptic flow of thermal photons for Au + Au collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. We model the system hydrodynamically, with a thermalized quark-gluon plasma at early times followed by hadronization and decoupling. Photons are emitted throughout the expansion history. Contrary to hadron elliptic flow, which increases mono...

Direct Photons in Nuclear Collisions at FAIR Energies

Using the extrapolation of existing data estimations of prompt photon production at FAIR energies have been made. At y = yc.m. the rapidity density of prompt photons with pt > 1.5 GeV/c per central Au+Au event at 25 AGeV is estimated as ∼ 10 . With the planed beam intensity 10 per second and 1% interaction probability, for 10% of most central events one can expect the prompt photon rate ∼ 10 ph...

Hydrodynamic Approaches to Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions

First data reported by the STAR Collaboration at RHIC [1] has a significant meaning that the observed large magnitude of elliptic flow for charged hadrons is consistent with hydrodynamic predictions [2]. This suggests that large pressure possibly in the partonic phase is built at the early stage (τ ∼ 0.6 fm/c) in Au+Au collisions at sNN = 130 and 200 GeV. This situation at RHIC is in contrast t...

Direct Photons in Heavy-Ion Collisions

A brief overview of direct-photon measurements in ultra-relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions is given. The results for Pb+Pb collisions at √ sNN = 17.3 GeV and for Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV are compared to estimates of the direct-photon yield from hard scattering. Both results leave room for a significant thermal photon component. A description purely based on hard scattering proce...
